DO YOU KNOW WHAT'S IN YOUR PRODUCTS?

There’s a lot of talk about a lot of ingredients that goes into products, the good and the bad; above we show some of the good, but why do they call the bad ingredients bad?

Here is a list of the most discussed;

Sulfates - are cleaning agents, they give the lather in products. They can cause dryness of the hair and scalp, hair loss, breakage and split ends. You will find sulfates in engine degreasers, floor cleaners, car wash soaps, bubble baths, and your shampoo. Sulfates are natural, but in the industry, they are combined with some pretty harsh chemicals which turns them bad. Watch out for, SLS, SLES, ALS and TEA.

Parabens - are preservatives. They have been linked to possibly causing cancer but it has not been confirmed. Parabens occur naturally in food, which some may say that since it occurs naturally than it is not harmful, but it is a difference in something occurring naturally and then something created to be added to. So we just have to be careful.

Mineral Oil - is a petroleum derivative. Mineral is not a natural product. It is something that is cheap and is bought in bulk/ it is used in a lot of beauty products due to it being cheap and its high lubrication aspect. It is claimed that it blocks oils from escaping the body and oils from entering the body. Me personally, I would never put Vaseline on my scalp or my skin but some people may not mind.

Fragrance - Perfume in products is very artificial, and can cause irritation. When products just list fragrance it can have up to 4000 synthetic ingredients. Just choose wisely. All fragrances are not created equal.

Silicones - any of a class of synthetic materials that are polymers with a chemical structure based on chains of alternate silicon and oxygen atoms, with organic groups attached to the silicon atoms. Such compounds are typically resistant to chemical attack and insensitive to temperature changes and are used to make rubber, plastics, polishes, and lubricants...Dictionary (so when straitening the hair, silicone's can be beneficial, because it protects the hair) this is why I said previously that it is good to use a silicone shampoo and conditioner when straitening the hair. Silicones are used to coat the hair giving it an appearance of lustrous healthy hair. Some hair types benefit from this, but others do not, i.e. African American hair. Since our hair needs moisture on a daily using a silicone's product actually keeps moisture from getting in, which is bad. There are water soluble and non soluble silicone's; water-soluble (Dimethicone copolyo)can be easily washed away which are not too bad, but the non soluble silicones are the ones we should stay away from, they require sulfates to be washed away, if not washed properly it will cause build up and prevent moisture from getting into the hair and scalp.

Formaldehyde - is an inhibiting agent that they put in dead people. This is by far the worst product. This product is carcinogenic by itself and can cause great harm, it weakens the immune system. They put this in baby products and a lot of other skincare. Beware of this one. For this product, I will say do not use ever.

If these products work for you then, by all means, use them. But we should always be aware of things that we purchase. We at EverButter are constantly doing research on our ingredients and changing them, making them better for everyone so you all will not have to worry or hesitate or question the integrity of our products. Some things are stated natural but can cause harm so we try to stay abreast to give the best product possible.

When you know that your scalp has sensitivity issues then being aware of what you put on your and scalp will benefit you greatly. Knowing is always half the battle.

It's always a pleasure!

XOXO
